We were on a coach,journeying deep into wildest SW Australia,and Richard was a fairly new member at that time.Already beginning to make his mark,by organising truly excellent tours,and nursing the heavy cold,he accused me of giving him on the plane over,he said to me-"I'm really enjoying being an LX'er,so how do you get to be Chairman?."I told him that you had to have the success of the club in your heart,actively promote that success,and play a moderately skillful game,whenever selected,and with luck,someone will notice. He listened carefully,and observed that if it had worked for me on at least two out of those three conditions,then he hoped that he too,would become Chairman,one day. For Richard,it worked on all levels,and he achieved his ambition, delivering many benefits to our organisation. I shall miss you,Richard. Brian Woolcott
